Founded by Dr. William Henry Sparling East, who served Fernie families for over 46 years, the Sparling East Medical Centre continues his legacy of compassionate, community-based care. Dr. East’s dedication to service — from his wartime years in the RC Army Medical Corps to his leadership in Fernie’s medical and civic life — set the standard we follow today.
Our team of family physicians and healthcare professionals provides patient-centred, attentive care for all ages, rooted in respect, connection, and the mountain community we proudly call home.
APPOINTMENT & VISIT FOCUS UPDATE
Sparling East Medical Centre provides care by appointment for our existing patients. While we are not a walk-in clinic, we always do our best to accommodate same-day appointments whenever possible.
At this time, we are not accepting new patients.
To help us continue providing thoughtful, timely, and quality care to all patients during a period of exceptionally high demand and limited physician availability, we have made a small adjustment to our appointment structure.
Physicians will address up to two medical concerns per appointment.
This allows our providers the time needed to properly assess each concern, while also helping us reduce wait times and remain available to as many patients as possible.
If you have additional concerns, we would be happy to help you book a follow-up appointment. As always, urgent or time-sensitive issues will be prioritized at the physician’s discretion.
